SIMATS Model United Nations 2026 is a distinguished academic conference hosted by Saveetha University — a platform where students converge to deliberate on pressing global issues through the lens of international diplomacy.

Structured in the tradition of the United Nations, SIMATS MUN challenges delegates to step into the shoes of world diplomats — researching their assigned nations, engaging in structured debate, and collaborating to craft policy solutions to real-world problems.

How Model UN Works

01

Registration & Country Allocation

Delegates register for their preferred committee. The Secretariat assigns each delegate a country ensuring balanced regional and political representation across all forums.

02

Research & Position Papers

Delegates conduct in-depth research on their assigned country's stance on agenda topics. A position paper outlining the nation's official policy is prepared prior to the conference.

03

Committee Sessions & Structured Debate

The conference opens with formal committee sessions chaired by the Executive Board. Delegates deliver formal speeches and participate in structured diplomatic debate under parliamentary procedure.

04

Moderated & Unmoderated Caucuses

Moderated caucuses allow focused debate on sub-topics. Unmoderated caucuses provide informal negotiation time — delegates huddle, bargain, and build blocs that shape the final resolution.

05

Draft Resolution Writing

Delegate blocs collaborate to author draft resolutions containing preambulatory clauses (context) and operative clauses (proposed solutions), submitted to the Chair for consideration.

06

Voting Procedure

Draft resolutions are debated and amended before a formal vote. Delegates vote in favour, against, or abstain — mirroring the procedural norms of actual United Nations assemblies.

07

Awards & Recognition

Outstanding delegates are recognised with prestigious awards — Best Delegate, Outstanding Delegate, Honourable Mention, and Best Position Paper — presented at the Closing Ceremony.
